Joshua Adam Garcia, known professionally as Chef Jag, is an American celebrity chef, musician and restaurateur.  

 

A classically trained chef with over 30 years culinary experience, Chef Jag offers his experience in Latin Fusion cuisine spotlighting culinary creations heightened by classical French and traditional Italian influenced flavors. 

 

He started as a short order cook and ice cream maker at a local Frozen Custard spot in Bergenfield NJ in 1997. He worked summers learning traditional Hispanic cuisine at his Grandmother’s Bodega in San Germán, Puerto Rico.  As a United States Marine, Jag was a military field Chef and graduate of The Quartermasters school for culinary arts in Ft. Lee Virginia in early 2000. 

He was classically trained at The New York Restaurant School while simultaneously working the Metropolitan food circuit in late 2003. 

Jag studied under Chef Marcello Russodivito in fine dining Italian cuisine as a Sous Chef at Marcello’s Ristorante in Suffern village and the historical  Ho-Ho-Kus inn in North Jersey. He later operated several restaurant concepts as a fine dining Executive Chef in Eastern North Carolina   before relocating to Tampa, Florida in 2009. 

 

 

In 2007 Chef Jag was a Top finalist and stand out contestant on the Next Food Network Star's season 3. He was 1 of 2 remaining of 11 culinary finalists selected nationally to compete for their own show on Food Network.   Jag was featured in Star magazine, The Rachael Ray show, The Ron & Fez show, Daytime TV Tampa, Fox News, the Metropolitan cooking and entertaining show in Atlanta, SOBE and The Atlantic City, Orlando and Tampa bay wine and food festivals to note a few. He opened several restaurants in Ocala Florida including Posh 27, Tavern on the Square, Istanbul and Jade Dragon. He was Executive Chef over several high end country clubs in the area including The Villages, Stone Creek and Gilchrist clubs. 

 

Today he is an avid guest chef and culinary personality for various wine and food events and continues to enjoy exploring trending food and beverage styles including Craft beer, Fine wine and the up and coming restaurant scene. He coordinates recipes, culinary instruction, and restaurant consultation for various restaurants and non-profit organizations and was a featured finalist on favorite Chef in 2025.  He is currently Corporate Executive Chef for Davanti Restaurant group with various Florida projects underway including Blue Coast Burrito, Fire Flii and Davanti wine Lounge at Society in Orlando. 

 

A dedicated family man, when Jag isn’t on the road or spicing things up in the Kitchen, he enjoys spending time with his children, Coaching at his gyms or working his Kennel ranch. Today, he resides with his beautiful wife Layla Ahmad Garcia and 3 children Canaan Antonio, Avah Sarai and Noah Mikael.  He is a 2nd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Master Todd Cutler of Fight Sports Daytona and a multi-art Yudansha of traditional Japanese martial arts.
